Raleigh Editorial Photography

Raleigh Editorial Photography All this talk about the audit of North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission got me thinking back to one of my first magazine editorial shoots back in 2004. This was for Stateways Magazine and a profile on Douglas Fox, the Commissioner of the ABC board.
Most assignments were still shot on film back then but I'd just got the fancy new Nikon D1x 5.3 megapixels and a 32MB card for @ $9K. I still shot everything on 2 1/4 film as digital was new. I arrived early to the headquarters and set-up outside by the sign. I was using a Speeotron 1200 pack and a crazy power inverter. We shot outside then moved into the office space. I unpacked, started setting up lights and started shooting polaroids. I remember it as clear as day when he said "Boy you have 5 minutes to get your picture then I'm out of here". Welcome to the world of editorial photography. I got my pictures both digital and on film and was happy with the results.
